Secretary Vilsack Announces Speakers for
2010 Agricultural Outlook Forum

The 2010 Outlook Forum will focus on
a broad range of topical issues related to rural communities, nutrition,
sustainable agriculture, conservation, and food safety and security. The
forum also will feature traditional USDA commodity supply and demand and
food price outlooks. USDA will Webcast the entire morning plenary speeches.
U.S.-Iraq Business and
Investment Conference
The upcoming
U.S.-Iraq Business and Investment Conference (USIBIC), announced by
Iraqi Prime Minister Maliki during his July visit to the U.S, will be
held on October 20-21, 2009, in Washington D.C. Yes, Iraq is opening up
for business! This major international event will offer U.S. companies
the opportunity to learn about business and trade opportunities in
Iraq’s market of 28 million people. The USIBIC will include cabinet
level officials from both governments as well as a significant number of
U.S. and Iraqi private sector representatives. The event will be held at
the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill. The USIBIC will include plenary and
sector breakout sessions with speakers from both the U.S. and Iraqi
public and private sectors. The main objectives for the USIBIC are to:
- Promote investment and business opportunities in Iraq
- Address challenges to doing business in Iraq
- Provide matchmaking opportunities for U.S. and Iraqi firms
The twelve sectors of focus are: Agriculture, Banking/Finance, Defense,
Electricity, Health, Education, Housing/Construction, Industry, Oil/Gas,
Telecommunications, Tourism, and Transportation.
