U.S. EXPORT SALES FOR WEEKENDING 5/01/2008

Cotton:  Net Upland sales of 563,900 running bales were 12 percent below the previous week, but 58 percent above the prior 4-week average.  Increases were mainly for China (311,000 RB), with lesser amounts for Turkey (53,000 RB), Indonesia (38,800 RB), Thailand (31,600 RB), Vietnam (22,400 RB), and Taiwan (19,400 RB).  Net sales of 94,400 RB for delivery in 2008/09 were mainly for Mexico (78,100 RB).  Exports of 269,700 RB were up 69 percent from the previous week and 10 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were China (101,400 RB), Turkey (38,300 RB), Mexico (35,500 RB), Indonesia (26,300 RB), Thailand (18,100 RB), and Japan (7,800 RB).  Net American Pima sales of 22,200 RB were primarily for China (13,100 RB), India (3,600 RB), Germany (1,500 RB), and Bangladesh (1,500 RB).  Net sales of 1,500 RB for delivery in 2008/09 were for Germany.  Exports of 22,100 RB were mainly to China (7,400 RB), India (3,600 RB), South Korea (3,000 RB), and Pakistan (2,800 RB).
